English Program
Školička u lesa offers an English-friendly environment for children who grow up in bilingual or international families, as well as for those who naturally absorb English through everyday experience.
Our English program is not about formal language instruction.
Children encounter English naturally – through play, everyday situations, stories, songs and communication with educators.
English through play and movement, without pressure to perform.
Understanding is supported through stories and puppets.
Children engage at their own pace in a safe and supportive environment.

In the next section, we describe how English naturally fits into our daily routine, the values behind our approach, and what children take away from everyday encounters with the language.
Why we introduce English already in preschool age
Preschool age is a period when children absorb language naturally – without conscious learning and without pressure to perform. Just like with their mother tongue, they first listen, understand situations and respond to them. Spoken expression comes later.
That is why we never force children to speak. We give them time to understand, notice connections and build confidence. English does not become a “subject”, but a natural part of their environment.
This approach helps build a positive relationship with a foreign language and creates a strong foundation for further learning later on.
What methodology we use
Our approach is based on the British WattsEnglish methodology, which is designed specifically for preschool children and early years educators. It is not a language course in the traditional sense, but a learning system that respects the natural development of speech in young children.
The methodology works with stories, characters and repetition in different contexts. Children encounter English through the character Steve and the puppet Maggie and gradually develop understanding of the language in a safe and familiar environment.
The Wow! materials are created specifically for preschool educators, not for language schools. Thanks to this, the activities are naturally connected to everyday life in the kindergarten and reflect the abilities and needs of children at this age.
What a typical English lesson looks like
English lessons are short and varied, lasting approximately 20 to 25 minutes. This length corresponds to the attention span of preschool children and helps keep them engaged without overload.
During the lesson, different types of activities alternate: movement, play, songs, visual materials and simple worksheets. Calm activities naturally blend with more active ones so that children stay involved while feeling comfortable.
Individual lessons repeat over time, which helps children strengthen understanding and gain confidence. Thanks to repetition and a familiar structure, children gradually begin to participate on their own – without pressure and without fear of making mistakes.
What children gain from English
Children do not leave English lessons with memorised phrases or performance pressure. Instead, they gain understanding, confidence and a positive relationship with a foreign language.
They gradually understand simple instructions and situations and respond naturally and without hesitation. English stops feeling foreign and becomes a natural part of their day.
Thanks to this approach, children move on to further education with openness and self-confidence. They have a solid foundation to build on later – without stress and without fear of mistakes.
English is a natural part of our day, supporting children in understanding, confidence and the joy of discovery.
